The Segovia aqueduct

Tour Description

Timeless Segovia and medieval Pedraza: Roman roots, Castilian tradition

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride into the heartland of Old Castile. On our day tour to Segovia and Pedraza we will travel back in time and follow the traces of Romans, Moors, Jewish people, and the Castilian Christians from the Middle Ages. In downtown Segovia and the medieval village of Pedraza recent efforts of conservation successfully enable us to imagine what life was like hundreds of years ago. Pedraza is on the list of the most beautiful villages of Spain. It is a town of small size with its 125 inhabitants, but of great beauty. Two gems not to be missed.

An amazing Aqueduct, a fairy tale castle and wonderful local food

We’ll begin the Segovia experience with a stop at a panoramic viewpoint of the “Alcázar” castle – a wonderful opportunity for some great pictures! Next, we’ll join an informative public 2-hour guided walking tour through the old quarter, while we’ll get to appreciate the rich history and architecture. If you preferred to have a private official guide in Segovia it is necessary to book this tour as a private tour. The most famous symbol of Segovia is undoubtedly the 2000-year-old Roman Aqueduct, one of the finest masterpieces of roman civil engineering. That is where our walking tour begins. From here we’ll wind our way up towards the “Lady of Cathedrals”, an imposing example of late Castilian Gothic architecture. We will pass through the Jewish Quarter, admire romanesque arches and cross medieval squares. Finally we will explore the Alcázar castle which already inspired Walt Disney. Following a delicious three-course meal at a traditional restaurant we’ll head to Pedraza, a medieval gem. The main square is as charming as you could only imagine with it’s stone pillar façades. We’ll take all the necessary time to indulge into the atmosphere, have a drink on a terrace, and wander through the winding cobblestone alleys. Our all-inclusive small group day tours are designed for a maximum of eight guests. We will be leaving Madrid at 8:30am and return at around 6:30pm. This tour is great fun for families, history lovers, hobby photographers, gourmets and romantic folks.
