Costa Brava Beach Goer
Enjoy a day swimming and relaxing at one of the most beautiful landscapes in Costa Brava. Just hop on our wonderful van in Barcelona and find yourself surrounded by nature in a comfortable, tranquil environment.
A short drive away from Barcelona lies the glittering coastline of Costa Brava.
Literally ‘wild coast’ in Catalan, Costa Brava lives up to its name. On these day escapes, we head to the only sandy beach on this part of the coast to have escaped development; bordered by beautiful little coves concealed by rugged pine forests. A hidden jewel not accessible by public transportation!
Swim in the clear blue water, walk along the old smugglers’ path or explore the ancient Iberian settlement (dating back to the 6th century BC) at the eastern end of the beach. If you’re hungry, tuck into seafood, sandwiches and cold beers at one of the chiringuitos (the bars along the beach that sell fresh Catalan food. Try some of the tasty locally-caught prawns, which are renowned throughout Spain). When the Spanish sun gets a little too strong, retreat to the forest area and nap in the shade, or take advantage of one of the parasols available for rent in the area.
Perfect for all ages and all ranges of ability and fitness, this relaxing day trip will be a refreshing break to the fast-paced city life of Barcelona.
Although there are definitely areas in Costa Brava that are practically unrecognizable after being tourist destinations for so long, there are also many places which have retained their quaint Catalan feel.
This hidden beach isn’t on the usual tourist circuit and is visited mostly by locals and Spaniards in-the-know, so you likely won’t stumble across it if you take the train to the coast for a day trip by yourself. The coastline has been a favorite with local Catalans for centuries. In the 1950s, the Spanish government recognized the attraction of what some called the Spanish Côte d’Azur and decided to develop the area as a holiday destination. Now, it is known across the world for its fantastic beaches and amazing cuisine. Our knowledgeable guides share the history of Costa Brava, give authentic insight about the area as it developed from the Roman era up until the present day, and answer any questions about Barcelona culture.
