Charles

Charles is co-founder, co-Manager and guide for Spanish Trails. He is originally from Portland, Oregon and an Oregon State Univ. graduate, where he met his wife and Spanish Trails co-founder, Tracy. He moved to Catalunya, Spain in 1998 and resides in Girona with Tracy, their three boys and multiple pets. He has dedicated the last 20 years of his life to exploring and sharing his passion and knowledge for the region of Catalunya as a guide for Spanish Trails and as the Director of ALBA Study Abroad Barcelona (Portland State University/University of Washington).

Tracy

Tracy is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She is co-founder, former guide and co-Manager of Spanish Trails. She resides in Girona with husband, Charles, and their three boys. Having moved to Catalunya, Spain in 2003 under subtle, yet not-so-subtle, coercion by Charles, she is passionate about the Catalan and Spanish culture and is genuinely honored to design peoples’ holiday in Catalunya, Madrid and central Spain. As busy as she is with their three children, she has become the contact and point of reference for many companies and countless agents around the globe.

Saskia

A Spanish Trails member since 2008, Saskia has over seven years of guiding experience for Spanish Trails in Barcelona. In early 2016 she moved to Madrid, and is now responsible for managing the Spanish Trails Madrid office. Born in Germany, she lived in Luxembourg, England and Belgium before moving to Spain. Hence her passion for traveling, history, the outdoors and the wonderful world of wines. A natural communicator, she makes an ideal and cheerful companion to take our guests around Madrid and central Spain, creating unforgettable moments and experiences in this beautiful region during their holidays.

Río

Río was born and raised in Madrid but, at heart, considers himself from Galicia, a beautiful coastal area right above Portugal. Nevertheless, his big family has spread around the world in such a diverse manner that he has grown up travelling from one side of the globe to the other, and has thus developed a passion for moving around and exploring as much as the world can offer. But most of all, he relishes the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and walks of life, and considers this the ultimate learning experience. It is no wonder that he enjoys working as a guide, as this allows him to meet new people from all over and show them the beauty and history that Spain has embedded within its cities and landscapes. Add to the mix the fact that he’s a trained actor whose passion lies in the performance arts, and you’ve got yourself a charismatic, energetic and open-minded companion to lead you on your Spanish Trails day trips. In Río’s own words, he loves sharing his true self with others, and heartily appreciates when others do the same. “Life’s too short for shyness!”
