Wine Trails of Rioja: the Charms of Spain’s Most Famous Wine Region

At 8 am, leave Barcelona to embark on a scenic transfer to Rioja. Along the way, we will build anticipation for the experiences ahead. By 2:30 pm, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant, a culinary gem and the oldest restaurant in Haro. Lunch will be followed by a walking tour through Haro’s historic old town.

At 5 pm, we delve into Rioja’s renowned wineries, for an immersive experience in one of the most famous bodega in the region. As the day ends, we make our way to our boutique hotel. After checking in you will have free time to rest, relax and recover from the trip in the hotel facilities. 

After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, we set out to explore more of Rioja with a visit to the picturesque village of Briones, a hidden gem full of  history. Lose yourself in its streets and absorb the essence of Rioja’s rural charm. Next, a visit to the Dinastia Vivanco Museum in Briones awaits where we will immerse ourselves in the winemaking traditions of Rioja. As the morning unfolds, we will experience a private visit and tasting in a medium-sized winery renowned for its commitment to quality.

Around 1 pm, we will enjoy lunch and wine tasting in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Discover the authentic flavors of Rioja’s culinary heritage, perfectly complemented by the region’s finest wines. In the afternoon, we will head to Laguardia where your guide will take you for a short walking tour through the village’s streets. Prepare to be impressed as we descend into one more winery with an underground wine cellar.

To finish the day, we make our way to Bodegas Marques de Riscal where the vineyard’s experts guide you through a remarkable tasting. By 7 pm, your group will reach the city of Logroño where you will check in to the hotel to have some free time before joining your guide for an exquisite tasting tour.

We prepare to say goodbye to Rioja. After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we start heading back to Barcelona. For those seeking a grand finale to this adventure, an optional wine tasting and brunch await at Bodegas Pago de Cirsus at noon (not included in the tour price). We start our departure from Rioja at 1:30 PM and expect to reach Barcelona by 5:30PM.
