After a pretty warm October and two weeks of surprisingly good weather in November (seriously, almost no clouds in the sky and short sleeves being an ok option for outfits), temperatures in Barcelona have finally gone down. We are happy to welcome the winter season!

And by “winter”, I obviously mean all the good, creamy food that comes with it. Stews, casseroles, pasta… and the happiest winter dish, perfect for any moment of our Barcelonian days: churros! I’m a true believer that there’s nothing better than hot cocoa and warm, sugary churros, always ready to put the cold away.

Perfect for breakfast, a mid-afternoon snack or dinner dessert, churros are the treats to try whenever in Catalonia. Here’s a list of five places you will get the most amazing xurros amb xocolata (churros and chocolate) in Barcelona.

1. Comaxurros

Churros in Barcelona

Located in Sant Gervasi, away from the city center, the crowd that goes to this churrería is mostly locals! You will find the best churros with a modern twist offering a wide variety of flavors and presentations. Once you try some of their delicious churros such as the one filled with Pistachio cream and raspberry jam, you will always want to go there when visiting Barcelona!

Address: Carrer de Muntaner, 562.

Hours:

Tue – Fri: 9:00 – 13:30h & 16:00 – 20:30h

Sat-Sun: 9:00 – 14:00h & 17:00 – 20:30h

How to get there: FGC L7. El Putxet stop or FGC S1, S2. Muntaner stop.

2. Xurreria dels Banys Nous

Churros in Barcelona

Close to the famously known La Boqueria market, this little stand will give you one the best fresh cone of churros you’ll have in the city! Don’t let the amount of churros in each cone fool you, once you start eating them it’ll be really hard to stop.

Hours:

Mon-Sat: 9:00 – 20:30h

How to get there: Metro L3. Liceu stop.

3. Granja La Pallaresa

Churros in Barcelona

Probably the most famous churrería in Barcelona, this place is famously known for the thick hot chocolate being sold here since 1947. Dunking the hot sugary churros in the chocolate will take the concept of “churros and hot chocolate” to a whole new level.

Address: Carrer de Petritxol, 11.

Hours:

Mon – Fri: 16:00 – 21:00h

Sat: 9:00 – 13:00h & 16:00 – 21:00h

Sun: 9:00 – 13:00h & 17:00 – 21:00h

How to get there: Metro L3. Liceu stop.

4. Granja Dulcinea

Churros in Barcelona

If you want to experience the meaning of true competition between two churrerías, then visit either Granja Dulcinea or Granja La Pallaresa. Located in the same –really small- street, this place offers lightly sugared churros to dip in thick hot chocolate!

Address: Carrer de Petritxol, 2.

Sun-Sat: 9:00 – 13:00h & 17:00 – 21:00h

5. Xurreria El Trebol

Churros in Barcelona

This place is Barcelona’s oldest churrería and is a local favorite! If you enjoy the churros more than the chocolate this is the place to come as they make them even thicker and crunchier. Also, if you’re having a churro craving but can’t go there, this place has an online delivery system. How awesome is that?

Address: Carrer de Corsega, 341.

Hours:

Mon-Sat: 9:00 – 23:00h

Sun: 9:00 – 22:00h
