Summer in Barcelona screams for a picnic! Barcelona is full of perfect and peaceful picnic spots and you don’t even have to leave town. There are more than 300 sunny days per year, so it’s not necessary to worry about the weather. Take your blanket, fill your picnic basket with your favorite goodies and go enjoy them at your favorite spot!

1.    Bunkers del Carmel

This place is not one of the main attractions of Barcelona, but definitely worth a visit. There you won’t find so many tourists. People who hang out there are usually enjoying their own food and drinks while taking in the magnificent panoramic views of Barcelona. It’s also a good spot to watch the sunset or sunrise. It can be a bit tricky to get there but you don’t want to miss the place. Take a taxi or the bus number 24 and then walk up a bit (if you have google maps access on your phone, that will be helpful for the walking part). Bring your picnic basket and enjoy an evening with breath-taking views!

2.   Parc de la Ciutadella

Ciutadella Park is really beautiful and one of the greenest places in Barcelona. You will find many locals and some tourists hanging out in small groups, playing music, doing yoga, or simply chatting over a beer. There is a little boating lake, where you can hire rowing boats for €6 / hour. In addition, the Zoo and The Catalan Parliament are also there. This park is very central, easy to find and free to access. So take a break from a vibrant city life and don’t forget your camera!

3.   The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc

The Magic Fountain show is a water and light show at the head of Avinguda Maria Cristina in Montjuïc, close to Plaça d’Espanya. The Montjuïc Magic Fountain has become one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions and it was built in 1929 by Carles Buigas. This unique water and light feature receive 2.5 million visitors every year.  You can see this amazing show on Wednesday-Sunday at 21.30. We recommend you to go on time because it is quite a popular hot spot!

4.    At the Beach

Barcelona has 4.5 kilometers of beaches so why don’t you just choose your favorite spot there and enjoy a nice picnic with your friends? In the spring and summer, you can spend the whole day on the beach and even stay there into the night. During daytime, you will find a lot of tourists enjoying the sun, and in the evening many locals also gather there to escape from the heat. You can play beach games, do water activities or just relax and have a cold drink!

5.    Sala Montjuic

Have you ever enjoyed a picnic and an open-air film? In Sala Montjuic this is possible! You can take your own snacks or buy them there. Movie ticket price is 6.5€ and before it, there is live music or sometimes a short film. Enjoy outdoor classic and popular original version movies on a giant screen with Spanish subtitles.
